Budget tips for Christmas

1.  Start putting Money Away now

Its never too late to put money away for your Christmas budget – it could be $ 5 one week or 20 the next into your separate account it all adds up by years end.

2.  Make a list – (then check it twice)

Make a list of everything you think you will need for Christmas, food, clothes, decorations, wrapping paper, card, travel plans and so on. Make the list as early as possible and also who you wish to buy for and activities you wish to allocate funds to one side for.

3.  Set a budget – and stick to it

Once you have your list, be realistic about your budget and clear plan on spending in needed. – stick a money managing app on your phone that tracks every dollar you spend on Christmas related items.

4. Research is the key

Once you have your list its time to shop around, use google, price spy and even amazon to compare prices. Check out were stores or brands are having sales etc.

5. Shop online

Skip the queues and sign up to your favourite retailers’ newsletters as they regular send out discounts and sale information.

6. Have a clean out – and make some cash

If you have old items, cloths, books jewellery to furniture etc sell them online or a garage sale, eBay etc and clear the decks of items you do not want and get the cash for it.

7. Ditch the Cocktails

The silly season is time for parties to go out and splurge. The elaborate drinks mixed can burn a hole in your nightly budget faster than you can say shaken or stirred.

8. Don’t buy presents for yourself

This is one real trap in the course of looking for others you see things you would like for yourself. Resist the urge to treat yourself.
